This innovative program matches college marketing teams with emerging musicians to create marketing materials the artists can use in their careers. The goals for the competition included:

• Giving students a real-life client experience to take into their future.
• Create innovative, high-quality pieces for their portfolio in the cutting edge entertainment industry.
• Connect students with a professional network within Iowa for post graduation opportunities.
• Build mentoring between upperclassmen and underclassmen.
• Support Iowa’s music industry through production of high-quality marketing materials for established music professionals.

At the end of their six week development period, each team will present their marketing product to a panel of four judges two days before the Crossroads Showcase. Criteria for judging was developed by the Competition facilitators after an extensive research process and input from marketing professionals. Judges will make their winning selection after the presentations. All teams will be present for the announcement of the winner during Friday night’s showcase and a special exhibit space was set up for attendees to view the teams’ work.
